"Bouchercon" is the World Mystery Convention – the big annual gathering for readers, writers, agents, editors and anyone else who loves crime fiction a little too much for polite company. Named after writer and critic Anthony Boucher, it has run annually since 1970 to celebrate the mystery community. This year it’s taking place from 21–25 October at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, and I'm going to be speaking on a panel!🎉

My panel, in association with Editors Canada, is called: “Editors as Co-Conspirators: The Accomplices You Didn’t Know You Needed”

It’s happening on Thursday 22 October at 3:00 PM, and I’ll be joining moderator Alex Benarziand fellow panellist Sarah L. Pratt to discuss suspense, red herrings, reveals, and all the invisible decisions hiding in plain sight that make up a crime novel. I’m flying in from Victoria on the morning of the 21st, so if you see me looking slightly dazed and clutching a coffee, do come and say hello – though perhaps not before noon, as I’ll still be on Pacific time in my head.

The full schedule will be up on the ​Bouchercon2026 website​ and it's going to be epic, with some of the keynote speakers being Louise Penny, Abir Mukerjee, Kathy Reichs and Jennifer Hillier.
