Bouchercon 2026 Special Offer
In Calgary for Bouchercon? Spotted my flyer? Welcome - this page is for you.
The offer:
Book any Crime Clinic consultation by 31 December 2026, and your follow-up Quickfire Session (20 minutes) is on the house.
Whether you're polishing a pitch, untangling a plot, or working out whether your opening chapter is doing its job, a Crime Clinic consultation is a friendly, one-to-one editorial chat about your manuscript - no commitment to a full edit required. Book a session during or after the conference, mention Bouchercon, and we'll schedule your free 20-minute follow-up once you've had time to put the first conversation to work.
How it works:
Book any consultation (Quickfire, Extended or Full) via this link by 31 December 2026, and you'll be able to book a follow-up Quickfire session for free to ask those questions that always pop up after you end the call!
The small print:
Your free follow-up is a 20-minute conversation about our first session - your questions, my answers, anything that's been keeping you up at night since we spoke. It doesn't include new reading; if you've sent me fresh pages, that's a brand-new session. Follow-ups are best taken two to eight weeks after your first consultation - long enough to have made some decisions, close enough that it's all still fresh. All follow-ups to be completed by 31 January 2027.All sessions are by Zoom, so you can book whether you're back in Canada, the US, UK, or wherever you headed home to after the convention.
Why a Crime Clinic?
I'm Rebecca Millar, a freelance crime fiction editor and former Penguin Random House editor. I've helped over 150 books reach the market, including Sunday Times and Amazon bestsellers, and I work with writers at every stage – from first-chapter wobbles to full developmental edits. The Crime Clinic is where those conversations start. Find out more here.
Got a manuscript that needs more than a chat?
Full editing services are listed here – though I should mention I'm booked out for full editorial work until 2027, so Crime Clinic consultations are the way to my diary at the moment.
